Paediatric Surgery dept becomes operational at Niloufer Hospital
Hyderabad: Country’s largest Paediatric Surgery Department with a capacity to accommodate 100 infants became operational here at the recently inaugurated intensive care block of Niloufer Hospital.
Spread over 25,000 square feet of space on the fifth floor of the intensive care block at Niloufer Hospital, the Paediatric Surgery Department has surgical ICU, post-operative wards, four ultra-modern operation theatres and also enough space for recovery wards to support 100 infants and their mothers, hospital doctors said.
“This is the largest Paediatric Surgery Department anywhere in India. The facility will add significant value to Niloufer Hospital. The department is well equipped with required infrastructure and would be able to provide high-end medical care to infants,” said Dr Ramesh Reddy, Head, Paediatrics Surgery, Niloufer Hospital.
In the last fortnight, the hospital management has managed to put to use the cellar of the intensive care block by inaugurating the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department. Just a few days ago, a special Neonatal ICU unit was also inaugurated on the first floor of the intensive care block.
The intensive care block was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 67 crore and was recently inaugurated by Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy. Once the block becomes fully operational, Niloufer hospital will have additional 500 beds that will enable hospital staff to provide better services to pregnant women.
