Tamil Nadu Coalition Talks Create Political Storm

Tamil Nadu coalition talks | Political developments in Tamil Nadu have taken a dramatic turn after the Assembly election results. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar triggered a major controversy with his remarks on government formation.

Soon after, TVK chief Vijay reportedly warned against any attempt by DMK and AIADMK to join hands for power.

Uncertainty over government formation continues in the state. Amid the political suspense, the Governor said any party or alliance that proves support from 118 MLAs would receive the first opportunity to form the government. He also remarked that numbers matter more than “head count.” The statement immediately sparked criticism from TVK and Congress leaders. They accused the Governor of sending confusing signals during a sensitive political situation.

At the same time, reports of possible talks between Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have created a political storm across Tamil Nadu. The two parties have remained bitter rivals for decades. However, sources claimed they are now exploring a coalition arrangement to share power and avoid political instability.

Tamil Nadu coalition talks  | Vijay warns against DMK AIADMK alliance

AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami recently held a meeting with party MLAs at a resort in Puducherry. During the interaction, he reportedly told legislators that “good things” would happen soon. His comments intensified speculation over a possible understanding between AIADMK and DMK.

Following these developments, Vijay chaired a crucial meeting with TVK MLAs and senior leaders. According to party sources, he strongly opposed any alliance between the two Dravidian parties. Vijay reportedly warned that all 108 TVK MLAs could resign together if DMK and AIADMK unite to form the government.

TVK leaders argued that ideological opponents joining hands only for power would amount to deceiving the people of Tamil Nadu. Party leaders also claimed that voters supported different political ideologies and not an “opportunistic alliance” formed after elections.

The reported resignation threat has sharply increased political tension in the state. If all TVK MLAs resign, Tamil Nadu could face large scale by elections and another phase of political uncertainty. Political observers believe Vijay is using the resignation strategy to prevent what his party describes as an “unholy alliance” between traditional rivals.

Meanwhile, TVK is also said to be holding discussions with smaller parties to strengthen support in the Assembly. The fast changing developments have now placed Tamil Nadu politics at the center of national attention. Political circles are closely watching the next moves of DMK, AIADMK, TVK, and the Governor’s office.
