Hyderabad, May 12: The XVI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally convicted a chain snatching accused in a case registered under Shahalibanda Police Station and sentenced him to five years rigorous imprisonment.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the accused, identified as Muthu Hari Krishna.
According to police, the incident took place on July 24, 2018 near Patarki Dargah under Shahalibanda police station limits.
Police said the accused snatched a gold chain from a woman and escaped from the spot immediately after committing the offence.
Court Convicts Accused In Shahalibanda Chain Snatching Case
The Shahalibanda police launched an investigation soon after the complaint. Police teams traced and arrested the accused. They also recovered the stolen gold chain and cash from his possession.
Detective Inspector B Narasimha Sanjay Reddy conducted the investigation and presented evidence before the court.
After examining the evidence and witness statements, XVI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate G Prabhakar found the accused guilty in the case.
The court sentenced the accused to five years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
Police officials said the conviction reflects the department’s efforts to ensure speedy investigation and prosecution in property offence cases.
