Hyderabad: SIR Phase 3 to cover Telangana AP and 17 other regions as the Election Commission announced expansion of electoral roll revision across the country.
The Election Commission of India said the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision will begin soon. It aims to bring the entire country under updated voter rolls.
The phase will include Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, and several northeastern states. It will also cover Delhi, Chandigarh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Officials said more than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers will conduct field verification. In addition, 3.42 lakh Booth Level Agents appointed by political parties will assist the process.
The exercise will involve verification of about 36.73 crore voters. Teams will carry out door to door checks to update records.
The third phase of SIR will run from May 30 to October 14. Draft electoral rolls will be published between July 5 and October 21.
The Commission said the revision aims to improve accuracy and transparency in voter lists. It added that the exercise is a key step before upcoming elections.
