India, Netherlands Unveil Semiconductor Partnership Roadmap

Hyderabad, May 17: India and the Netherlands have announced a major roadmap to strengthen cooperation in semiconductors, emerging technologies, innovation and higher education.

The partnership aims to build trusted and resilient semiconductor supply chains by boosting collaboration between industries, research institutions and governments in both countries.

The agreement expands cooperation under the existing Memorandum of Understanding on semiconductors and related emerging technologies. Both nations will jointly explore opportunities in artificial intelligence, photonics, quantum technologies and cybersecurity.

India, Netherlands Focus On Semiconductor Ecosystem

A key focus of the partnership is semiconductor talent development and ecosystem expansion. The Netherlands’ Semicon Competence Centre will work closely with the India Semiconductor Mission to support startups, SMEs, suppliers and scale up companies through innovation and technology sharing.

In a major academic initiative, Eindhoven University of Technology and the University of Twente have partnered with six leading Indian institutes to create a semiconductor “brain bridge”.

The Indian institutions include the Indian Institute of Science, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati and IIT Madras.

Leading global companies including NXP Semiconductors, ASML, Tata Electronics and CG Semi are backing the collaboration.

Both countries also agreed to deepen scientific research cooperation by aligning national priorities in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, energy materials and biomolecular technologies through the Joint Working Group on Science, Technology and Innovation.

India and the Netherlands further reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening higher education ties through institutional partnerships and STEM based academic exchanges.

The partnership also extends to the space sector. Both countries will explore the use of space based technologies to address global challenges including climate change, water management, food security and air quality.

Officials described the roadmap as a major step toward strengthening technology driven cooperation and innovation between India and the Netherlands.
