Hyderabad, May 20: A traffic police constable has been booked for allegedly marrying a minor girl in Huzurnagar of Suryapet district, triggering concern over violation of child marriage laws.
The accused, identified as Nayini Anil Kumar Goud from Seetharampuram village in Huzurnagar mandal, is currently working as a traffic constable in Bhuvanagiri.
According to officials, Anil Kumar Goud allegedly married a minor girl from Anantagiri mandal on May 9. The marriage reportedly took place secretly despite child marriage being a punishable offence under law.
Child Marriage Case Against Constable
The incident came to light after a complaint was submitted to Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials.
Following preliminary verification, Child Welfare Department officials lodged a complaint at the Huzurnagar Police Station.
Police subsequently registered a case against the constable under provisions of the Child Marriage Prevention Act and other relevant sections.
The incident has created discussion locally as the accused was serving in the police department while allegedly violating laws meant to protect minors.
