Police identified the accused as Vishnav Kishan Das alias V. Ganesh Maharaj, a native of Uttar Pradesh. A rowdy sheet has reportedly been maintained against him at Sultan Bazar Police Station since 1999.
According to police, the accused is involved in 21 criminal cases registered across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda commissionerates, and several other districts. The offences include murder, attempt to murder, theft, robbery, house breakings, criminal intimidation, and Arms Act violations.
Hyderabad Police | Accused Changed Identity to Escape Police Surveillance
Police said the accused is the second accused in Crime No. 248/2010 registered under Sections 302, 201, and 379 read with 34 IPC at Sultan Bazar Police Station. The case relates to a murder investigation.
Officials stated that Vishnav Kishan Das surrendered before the II Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally on November 30, 2010. Later, he secured bail on May 2, 2012.
However, after obtaining bail, he allegedly went out of police view and remained absconding for nearly 14 years while evading trial proceedings. Police further revealed that he had earlier also remained absconding after 2003 before allegedly committing additional offences.
To trace the accused, police formed a special team and launched continuous surveillance and intelligence gathering operations. During the inquiry, officials reportedly discovered that the accused had deliberately changed his legal identity from Vaishnav Kishan Das to Vaishnav Ganesh Maharaj in Aadhaar and other official documents.
