Hyderabad, June 4: Enforcement officials in Secunderabad have arrested a former Army officer for allegedly selling Defence liquor in violation of regulations and seized 51 liquor bottles worth about Rs 1 lakh.
The accused, identified as K. Vidyasagar Reddy, was allegedly involved in the unauthorized sale of Defence liquor in and around Secunderabad, officials said.
Defence Liquor Seized in Secunderabad Raid
Acting on specific information, enforcement personnel caught Vidyasagar Reddy allegedly selling Defence liquor near the Style Union Shopping Mall in Secunderabad on Wednesday. During the operation, officials seized 11 liquor bottles from his possession.
Subsequent searches at his residence led to the recovery of another 40 bottles, taking the total seizure to 51 bottles valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh.
According to Enforcement Circle Inspector S. Chandrasekhar Goud, the seized stock included 28 bottles of Teachers, 18 bottles of Seagram’s liquor and three bottles of Signature and wine.
The accused was arrested, and the case was transferred to the Secunderabad Excise Police for further investigation.
In a separate operation, Rangareddy Enforcement Police arrested a man identified as Jakula Saket for allegedly selling prohibited cough syrup bottles in Bhagat Singh Nagar, Chintal.
During questioning, Saket allegedly told investigators that the bottles had been supplied by Gundla Chandrasekhar, owner of Tulsi Medical Shop.
Based on the information, officials conducted a search at Chandrasekhar’s residence and recovered 10 additional prohibited cough syrup bottles.
Both accused were arrested, and a total of 15 prohibited cough syrup bottles were seized. The case has been handed over to the Quthbullapur Excise Police for further investigation.
