Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit Targets 200 Intercity Trains
Officials informed the ministers that the unit aims to manufacture 200 modern intercity trains over the next five years. The trains are being designed with 20 coach configurations and will be capable of operating at speeds of up to 130 kmph.
The new trains will feature regenerative braking technology, which helps generate electricity during braking and improves energy efficiency. Railway officials said the trains are intended for short distance travel between cities located within a radius of around 300 kilometers.
To improve passenger comfort, each coach will include automatic doors, enhanced ventilation systems, and bio toilets at both ends. Officials also stated that modern couplers and upgraded coach designs will ensure smoother and safer journeys.
The Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit is expected to strengthen the railway sector in Telangana and create employment opportunities in the region. The project is also expected to support industrial growth and economic activity around Kazipet.
