TGSPDCL ramps up electrical safety and emergency response

Under the direction of TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, field teams have intensified restoration work on damaged and ageing electrical infrastructure.

The special drive includes installation of new electric poles, repair of damaged and bent poles, and rectification of loose power lines on a priority basis.

To reduce rain related disruptions and accidents, TGSPDCL has also started a large scale tree trimming programme near power lines.

Officials said the utility has deployed modern equipment to speed up field operations. This includes 208 pole pruners, of which 168 are newly procured, along with 59 new chain saws and 530 pruning cutters.

To improve emergency response, TGSPDCL has kept 189 Emergency Response Team vehicles ready for deployment. In addition, 213 Fuse Off Call teams have been positioned in the Core Urban Region to respond quickly to electricity complaints.

Officials said residents will receive prior information before tree trimming work begins near residential areas and requested public cooperation.

For complaints and emergency support, consumers can contact the 1912 toll free electricity helpline, which operates round the clock and can handle up to 400 calls simultaneously. Consumers can also use the TGSPDCL Citizen App and WhatsApp support number 87124 41912.

The utility advised the public to remain cautious during the monsoon season and warned people not to touch snapped wires or fallen electrical cables. Citizens have been urged to immediately inform electricity authorities if such incidents are noticed.
