Nagpur, June 20: A NEET UG candidate from Nagpur was briefly allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi on his revised admit card, triggering confusion ahead of the June 21 re examination.
The National Testing Agency later issued a fresh admit card and shifted the student’s centre to Nagpur after the family raised the issue.
The candidate, Abdullah Mohammad Talib, had appeared for the original NEET UG exam on May 3 at Saraswati Vidyalaya in Nagpur. He was among students asked to take the re examination after the paper leak controversy.
NEET admit card error corrected after complaint
Talib’s family said the revised admit card showed an examination centre at a school in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. They said the student had selected only Maharashtra cities as his test centre preferences, including Nagpur, Wardha and Bandra.
The family said Talib had not opted for any overseas centre. His father also said the student does not hold a passport and there was no possibility of making travel arrangements at such short notice.
After spotting the error, the family contacted the NTA helpline and lodged a complaint. Following this, the agency issued a new admit card with a centre in Nagpur.
NTA Director General Abhishek Singh confirmed that the issue had been resolved and said the candidate had now been allotted a centre in his home city. Officials attributed the Abu Dhabi allotment to a technical problem in the admit card generation process.
The incident has raised questions over the handling of revised admit cards, especially as students prepare for the NEET UG re examination amid heightened scrutiny over exam management after the paper leak row.
