Sameer Waliullah, Congress Incharge for Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency and former president of the Hyderabad District Congress Committee, claimed that complaints had emerged from different parts of the city regarding alleged handling, distribution and collection of SIR forms by unauthorised persons.

According to Sameer, the Election Commission’s guidelines require Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to personally visit households, distribute enumeration forms, assist voters in completing them and supervise the process directly.

Sameer alleged that this procedure was not being followed uniformly in certain localities. He claimed that in some areas, voters were being asked to visit schools, community halls, private premises and other collection points instead of receiving door to door services.

He further alleged that individuals reportedly linked to AIMIM were managing SIR related forms and directing voters to party associated locations in some areas. He said this created concerns about possible political influence in the exercise.

Sameer stated that voter information contained sensitive electoral details and warned that unauthorised handling could affect public confidence and create difficulties for genuine voters.

He also clarified that Booth Level Agents of political parties could only assist the process under Election Commission rules and could not replace BLOs or independently collect official forms.

The Congress leader urged the Election Commission of India and the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer to verify complaints, enforce strict household level verification and ensure that only authorised election staff handled SIR related material.

He also sought disciplinary action against any election functionary found violating official procedures and requested administrative support for BLOs to carry out duties independently.

No response from AIMIM or election authorities was available at the time of reporting.
