Hyderabad Traffic Police Review Bonalu Arrangements, Rescue Peacock

Hyderabad, July 4: Senior officers of the Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a field inspection in Secunderabad on Friday to review traffic and crowd management arrangements for the Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu festival scheduled for August 2, 2026.

The inspection covered the temple surroundings and other key locations in Secunderabad. Officers reviewed traffic diversion points, parking facilities, barricading, pedestrian movement plans, emergency access routes, and other operational measures.

The inspection was led by DCP Traffic Avinash Kumar, Additional DCP Traffic A. Ramulu, ACP Secunderabad A. Srinivas, and Mahankali Traffic Inspector. Officials instructed field staff to complete all arrangements in advance and ensure smooth crowd management during the festival.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police appealed to devotees and commuters to follow notified traffic diversions, use designated parking areas, and cooperate with police personnel during the celebrations.

In a separate incident, Panjagutta Traffic Police personnel rescued a peacock that came under a vehicle while crossing the road at Greenlands X Roads around 9.30 am. Head Constable G. Surender and Home Guard Ravi Kumar immediately secured the bird, provided basic care, and later handed it over to the Forest Department at Aranya Bhavan in Saifabad for further treatment.

The department appreciated the alertness of the traffic personnel and urged the public to inform authorities about wildlife movement on roads.

Later in the evening, DCP Traffic I Avinash Kumar and ACP Khairatabad Mohan Kumar distributed a helmet to a child at Monappa Junction under Panjagutta Traffic Police Station limits. They advised the child’s father to ensure that children also wear helmets while travelling on motorcycles.
