Hyderabad, July 4: The Rajendranagar Zone Police conducted a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme at the Telangana State Institute of Rural Development (TGIRD), Rajendranagar, educating 520 participants on preventing online fraud and promoting digital safety.
The programme brought together State Resource Persons from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs), and professionals from the agriculture sector as part of an initiative to strengthen cyber awareness.

The awareness session was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Sreenivas, IPS. Assistant Commissioner of Police T. Srinivas, Inspector M. Muthu Yadav, and Zonal Cyber Cell Sub Inspector S. Mallesham also attended the programme.
Addressing the participants, DCP S. Sreenivas explained the latest methods used by cyber criminals, including digital arrest scams, fake investment schemes, fraudulent job offers, phishing attacks, and UPI payment frauds.
He urged citizens to follow safe online practices and maintain strong cyber hygiene. The DCP also advised victims of cyber financial fraud to immediately contact the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 during the critical “Golden Hour” to help freeze fraudulent transactions and improve the chances of recovering the lost money.
Concluding the programme, the DCP encouraged participants to become Cyber Safety Ambassadors and spread cyber safety awareness within their departments, educational institutions, and rural communities to help prevent cyber crime at the grassroots level.
