Hyderabad, July 24 (Maxim News): The tenure of Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan as the Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has been extended following the approval of the President of India in her capacity as the Visitor of the University.
The extension was announced through a notification issued by MANUU Registrar Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed. According to a communication dated July 22, 2026, from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, the President approved the extension of Prof. Hasan’s tenure.
MANUU Vice Chancellor Extension Continues Academic Iinitiatives
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan was appointed as the fifth Vice Chancellor of MANUU on July 23, 2021, and assumed office on July 28, 2021.
During his tenure, the university secured an A+ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). MANUU also featured in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026 and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
The university established its School of Law in line with the National Education Policy and introduced LL.B. and other law programmes. It also launched several new academic courses and set up the Varanasi Campus, which includes a B.Ed. College and a Regional Centre for distance education students.
Prof. Hasan received the Padma Shri in January 2025 in recognition of his contributions to education and literature.
Registrar Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, faculty members, non teaching staff and students congratulated Prof. Hasan on the extension. They expressed confidence that the university would continue to achieve academic progress under his leadership.
Prof. Hasan thanked the President of India and the Ministry of Education for the confidence placed in him. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the university and advancing its academic and institutional development during the extended tenure.(Maxim News)
