Hyderabad, July 8: Mehdipatnam police arrested a suspect in a large house theft case and recovered gold, cash and a two wheeler, officials said.
Police said officers from Mehdipatnam PS Crime Team detained 28 year old Biyya Sashidhar. They recovered gold jewellery weighing 157.8 grams, an Activa 3G scooter and Rs. 12,000 in cash. The recovered items have an estimated value of about Rs. 10 lakh.
Officers registered Crime No. 196/2026 under section 305 BNS after a June 30 theft report. The complainant said thieves took jewellery from flat 301 at Siri Priya Residency, Masab Tank. The victim reported the loss at 7:00 am that day.
Investigators said Sashidhar knew the victim’s family through a relative. He repeatedly visited the home and noted the house layout and storage. He then gained entry by arranging to get car keys and used a spare key to open a wardrobe, police added.
Police arrested him at Al Sabha Hotel in Vijay Nagar Colony after credible leads. During questioning, he confessed to the theft, they said. Officers also said he sold some jewellery in Secunderabad gold market and spent time in Goa in July.
Seizure details list a gold chain, multiple rings, bangles and necklace sets, totalling about 157.8 grams, the Activa with registration TS 08 EL 1621, and cash Rs. 12,000. Police named the arresting and supervising officers from the Golkonda zone and Asifnagar division. Senior officials commended the team and authorised rewards for the staff.
