Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Bonalu 2026 celebrations will witness extensive security arrangements as the Hyderabad City Police prepare for the month long Ashada Bonalu festival beginning on July 16.

City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS, has directed officials to ensure comprehensive security, effective crowd management, and smooth traffic regulation so that devotees can celebrate the festival peacefully until August 13.

The Commissioner reviewed the security arrangements through a video conference with senior police officers from the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) at Banjara Hills.

The meeting focused on preparations for major Bonalu temples, including Golconda Fort, Balkampet Yellamma Temple, Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad, and Lal Darwaza Mahankali Temple, which attract lakhs of devotees every year.

Hyderabad Bonalu 2026 Security Focuses on Crowd Safety and Women’s Protection

During the review, C.V. Anand said the first 15 days of the Hyderabad Bonalu 2026 celebrations, beginning with the Golconda Bonalu, will be the most crucial.

He instructed officers to deploy security personnel based on the expected crowd at each temple and ensure seamless coordination among all government departments.
The Commissioner referred to directions issued by Telangana Ministers Konda Surekha and Ponnam Prabhakar, who recently reviewed the festival arrangements. He instructed police officers to implement those directives at the ground level to facilitate safe and peaceful darshan for devotees.
To strengthen security, the Hyderabad City Police will deploy personnel from the Task Force, Rapid Action Force (RAF), City Armed Reserve (CAR), Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), and local police units. Public Address Systems will also be installed near temples to provide timely announcements, crowd guidance, and emergency information.
Special emphasis will be placed on the safety of women devotees, who attend the Bonalu festival in large numbers.

The Commissioner directed She Teams to maintain continuous surveillance to prevent harassment, eve teasing, chain snatching, mobile phone theft, and pickpocketing during the festivities.

Police will also implement comprehensive traffic management plans around temples and procession routes to minimise congestion. Officials have been instructed to ensure the smooth conduct of Bonalu processions, Pothuraju performances, and Ghata processions by deploying adequate personnel at sensitive locations.

The Hyderabad Bonalu 2026 festival is one of Telangana’s most significant religious celebrations, drawing lakhs of devotees to historic temples across the city. Every year, Hyderabad City Police coordinate with multiple government departments to manage security, traffic, and emergency response during the festivities.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order South Zone) Tafseer Iqbal, IPS, DCP (Administration) Venkata Lakshmi, Additional DCP SB Narasimha Rao, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Srinivasulu, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis, IPS, and other senior law and order and traffic officials through video conference.
