Hyderabad, July 23: The Kulsumpura Police secured a life imprisonment conviction in a 2022 murder case after a Hyderabad court found the accused guilty of killing his wife.
The verdict was delivered by the II Additional Sessions Judge Court, Nampally, on July 23, 2026, convicting the accused under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the police, the incident occurred on July 15, 2022, when Menda Santosh (32), a resident of Jiyaguda, allegedly assaulted his wife, Saritha, during a domestic dispute.
Police said the accused allegedly attacked her with a pair of scissors and later strangled her with a dupatta, resulting in her death.
The case was registered at Kulsumpura Police Station based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s elder sister.
The investigation was conducted by Ashok Kumar, then Inspector of Police, Kulsumpura Police Station, who collected material evidence, examined witnesses and filed the charge sheet before the court.
The trial was held in Sessions Case No. 705 of 2022 before the II Additional Sessions Judge Court, Nampally.
The court convicted the accused under Section 302 IPC and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for life. The court also imposed a fine of ₹2,000. In default of payment, the accused will undergo three months of simple imprisonment.
Kulsumpura Police Inspector A. Ramulu appreciated the efforts of the investigating officer, Additional Public Prosecutor Ramakrishna, and the police staff involved in the investigation and court proceedings for securing the conviction.
The Hyderabad City Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring strict action against violent crimes and securing justice for victims.
