Hyderabad: Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026, with leaks pointing to seven major upgrades, including a next generation processor, improved cameras, enhanced connectivity, and a larger battery. Reports also suggest the flagship model could see a significant price increase in India.
While Apple has not officially confirmed any specifications or pricing, industry leaks indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will focus on performance, artificial intelligence, and camera enhancements rather than a complete design overhaul.
iPhone 18 Pro Max may bring A20 Pro chip, better cameras and higher price
According to reports, Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 18 Pro series during its traditional September launch event, with sales expected to begin later the same month. The company is also rumoured to introduce its first foldable iPhone, which may be branded as the iPhone Ultra.
The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the second generation iPhone Air are expected to launch separately in early 2027.
The biggest talking point is the expected price increase. The current iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at ₹1,49,900 in India. Leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start between ₹1,59,900 and ₹1,69,900, making it Apple’s most expensive non-foldable iPhone in the country.
Reports indicate the price hike could be driven by higher manufacturing costs, including Apple’s move to the A20 Pro processor, which is expected to be built using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. Rising memory prices and upgraded hardware are also believed to contribute to the increase.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to feature a smaller Dynamic Island, with Apple reportedly moving more Face ID components beneath the display to maximize screen space.
Camera improvements could include a 48MP Fusion primary camera with a variable aperture, allowing users greater control over lighting and depth of field. Apple is also expected to improve low light photography and image processing through AI enhancements.
Connectivity is another area expected to receive a boost. The new C2 modem could introduce satellite based 5G connectivity, enabling internet access in locations without traditional cellular coverage.
The display sizes are likely to remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, Apple is expected to introduce an upgraded LTPO+ OLED display, improving power efficiency and overall viewing performance.
Battery life may also improve, with rumours suggesting the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery nearly 10 percent larger than its predecessor. Reports indicate capacities of 5,567mAh for eSIM variants and 5,391mAh for global Nano SIM models.
Apple is also tipped to introduce a new Dark Cherry colour alongside Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver, while discontinuing the current Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue finishes.
Although the leaked specifications have generated considerable excitement, Apple is expected to reveal the official pricing, features, colours, and availability only during its September launch event.
