Hyderabad: A major burglary was reported at Balaji Jewellery Shop in Chandanagar during the early hours of Saturday after unidentified thieves allegedly broke into the store by creating an opening through the rear wall and escaped with gold and silver ornaments.
According to police, the burglars first removed an exhaust fan at the rear of the jewellery shop, located next to Bajaj Electronics in Chandanagar, before making a hole in the wall to gain entry. They then breached another door separating the rear room from the main showroom and allegedly stole jewellery kept inside.
Preliminary estimates indicate that the accused fled with around 7 tolas of gold and 4 kilograms of silver ornaments. The exact value of the stolen property is yet to be officially assessed.
Soon after receiving information about the burglary, DCP Chintamaneni Srinivas, ACP Ch. Y. Srinivas Kumar, personnel from the Central Crime Station (CCS), Special Operations Team (SOT), and Chandanagar Police reached the scene and inspected the premises.
A forensic team and the Clues Team collected evidence from the spot, while investigators began examining CCTV footage and other technical evidence to trace the suspects.
Police said special teams have been formed to identify and apprehend those involved. The investigation is underway from multiple angles.
