New Delhi, August 17: Krafton India has announced plans to launch BGMI Lite in India by the end of 2026, adding a new title to the Battlegrounds Mobile India franchise.
The company said the lighter version aims to expand the BGMI experience to a wider community of players.
However, Krafton has not announced an exact release date. It also has not revealed the game’s features or game-play details.
BGMI Lite Details Yet to Be Revealed
Krafton said further information about BGMI Lite will be shared closer to its launch.
The company has not yet confirmed the minimum RAM, processor requirements or download size.
It has also not revealed the list of supported smartphones or differences from the standard BGMI version.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that BGMI Lite could target budget and older smartphones. This could allow more users to access the franchise on devices with limited hardware.
Krafton has previously highlighted the importance of expanding its gaming presence in India. Its official investor materials also show continued efforts to broaden BGMI’s user base.
For existing players, BGMI Lite could provide another way to access the franchise. However, its exact game-play experience remains unclear until Krafton releases more details.
Krafton has also said BGMI has crossed 260 million downloads in India.
The announcement comes after the roll-out of the BGMI 5th Anniversary Edition 4.5 update. The anniversary celebrations also included limited time redeem codes offering various in game rewards.
