Prashant Kishor Takes Oath As Bankipur MLA

Bankipur, August 17: Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor took oath as the new MLA from Bihar’s Bankipur Assembly constituency on Monday.

Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar administered the oath in his chamber. The Assembly is currently not in session, allowing the Speaker to administer the oath separately.

Kishor reached the Assembly with senior Jan Suraaj leaders and supporters. He will now begin his legislative responsibilities as an elected representative.

Prashant Kishor Outlines Bankipur Priorities

Kishor won the Bankipur by election held on July 30. The results were announced on August 3.

He defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha by 19,246 votes. The RJD candidate finished third and lost the security deposit.

After his victory, Kishor said residents would see visible changes within two to three months.

He identified employment, education, ration distribution and social security as key priorities.

Kishor said he would work to facilitate private sector jobs for 10,000 young people. He also promised support for children seeking access to private schools.

He further promised to improve the ration card system within three months. In addition, he proposed a monthly pension of Rs 1,100 for people aged 60 and above.

Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj is preparing for upcoming Teacher and Graduate constituency Legislative Council elections and Panchayat elections in Bihar.

Kishor is also expected to undertake another statewide tour as the organisation expands its political presence.
