Internet/Hyderabad, Aug 19 (Maxim News): Nine people, including a child, died in a fire that broke out in a hotel in Kolkata. The incident took place at 2 am on Free School Street in the Newmarket area. Several people were trapped and died after the fire broke out suddenly. The fire department said that all the deceased in the incident were Bangladeshis. Officials said that they had come to Kolkata for medical treatment.
Officials believe that the fire may have broken out on the third floor due to an AC explosion. However, the cause of the incident has not been revealed yet. As soon as the fire broke out, some people in the hotel ran out. People screamed as the flames spread to the surrounding houses. Firefighters reached the spot as soon as they were informed about the incident. The staff controlled the fire with the help of four fire engines. Those trapped inside were brought out. A police officer said that the rescue operations were hampered due to the spread of thick smoke. Meanwhile, two days ago, a fire broke out in a hotel in Birbhum district. In this incident, 8 people died and many were injured.(Maxim News)
