Hyderabad, August 22: Two workers were killed and 11 others injured after a reactor blast at a pharmaceutical unit in Dothigudem, Pochampally, late Friday night.
The pharma unit blast near Hyderabad occurred on August 21 at a facility located about 50 kilometres from Hyderabad. The explosion triggered panic among residents in the surrounding area.
According to police officials, the blast occurred inside the pharmaceutical facility late at night. The impact caused casualties and injuries among workers at the unit.
Fire services personnel reached the site after the incident. They assessed the damage and continued rescue and safety operations.
The injured workers received emergency assistance following the blast. Authorities are also working to establish the exact circumstances that led to the explosion.

The affected facility, Hazelo Lab, manufactures Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and bulk drug intermediates, according to regulatory information submitted to the State Level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority.
