Hyderabad, August 23 (Maxim News): A major fire broke out at furniture warehouses in Moghal Khanas under the Gudimalkapur Police Station limits on Sunday. The blaze destroyed furniture worth lakhs of rupees.
The fire reportedly started accidentally in one warehouse. It soon spread to three adjoining warehouses. As a result, flames engulfed four furniture warehouses in total.
Local residents alerted the fire department after noticing the blaze. Firefighters rushed to the spot with five fire engines and began rescue and firefighting operations.
Two warehouses have been brought under control so far. However, flames continued to rise from two other warehouses during the firefighting operation.
Gudimalkapur fire spreads across four warehouses
The presence of large quantities of wooden and plastic furniture intensified the Gudimalkapur fire. These materials helped the flames spread rapidly across the warehouse premises.
Several other warehouses are located close to the affected buildings. Therefore, owners of nearby establishments expressed concern over the possibility of the fire spreading further.
Firefighters continued efforts to contain the blaze and prevent it from reaching neighbouring warehouses. Authorities also monitored the situation closely because of the dense concentration of storage facilities in the area.
No loss of life was reported in the incident. The absence of casualties provided relief to local residents and warehouse owners.
The fire caused substantial property damage, with furniture stored inside the affected warehouses reportedly destroyed. The exact value of the loss has not yet been officially assessed.
Meanwhile, Gudimalkapur police registered a case following the incident. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the fire.
Police are also expected to assess the warehouse safety arrangements and identify the exact cause of the blaze. Further details may emerge after the investigation and assessment of the damaged premises.
The incident has again highlighted the fire risks in areas where warehouses store large quantities of combustible materials. Quick intervention by the fire department helped prevent the blaze from causing casualties.
Firefighting operations continued as officials worked to fully extinguish the remaining flames and secure the affected area. (Maxim News)
