Charminar Police | Hyderabad, Sept. 1 : Charminar police have launched action against 57 youths identified for violating law and order norms during the recent Milad un Nabi (PBUH) procession in Hyderabad’s Old City.
Police identified the youths using drone footage and CCTV surveillance. The visuals reportedly showed dangerous bike stunts, modified high decibel silencers, unauthorised DJ systems and misbehaviour with police personnel on duty.
The Charminar zone police subsequently held a counselling session with the identified youths. DCP Charminar Zone Kiran Khare, along with senior police officers, attended the session.
Police said festival celebrations must remain peaceful and within the law. They also stressed that religious celebrations do not provide immunity from legal action.
DCP Kiran Khare urged the youths to act responsibly. He also asked parents to monitor their children’s friends, social media activity and habits.
The police action follows repeated warnings issued before the Milad un Nabi procession. Hyderabad Police had announced a ban on DJs and bike rallies ahead of the event.
Charminar Police Crack Down After Milad Violations
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar had also warned that violators would face action after the festivities. Police teams collected footage from drones and the city’s CCTV network to identify those involved in violations.
The restrictions covered rash and negligent driving, dangerous bike stunts and excessive noise caused by modified vehicle silencers. Police had also warned against triple riding and minors driving vehicles during the procession.
The violations reportedly occurred despite guidelines issued by police and the Markazi Milad Committee. The committee had earlier assured the police that participants would follow the prescribed rules.
Police said violations can attract action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Hyderabad City Police Act and Noise Pollution Act. Modified silencers can also attract penalties under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act when noise levels exceed the prescribed limit.
Meanwhile, the main Milad un Nabi procession itself passed off peacefully. It began after Zuhr prayers at the historic Makkah Masjid and moved through several parts of the Old City before concluding near Volta Hotel.
Nearly 2,000 police personnel were deployed along the procession route. Police also used drones and the city’s surveillance network to monitor the movement.
The latest action signals that Hyderabad Police intend to enforce restrictions even after major religious processions conclude. However, the available report does not clarify whether any cases have been registered against all 57 identified youths.
