Hyderabad, Sept 2 (Maxim News): Telangana has provided ₹50,000 each to 278 minority widows to support self employment and family livelihoods. Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin distributed the assistance in Rangareddy district on Wednesday.
The minister handed over cheques under the Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana. He said the support would help women strengthen their income and improve their family livelihoods.
The programme aims to promote economic empowerment among minority women. Moreover, the government wants beneficiaries to use the assistance for sustainable livelihood activities.
Azharuddin also distributed generators and tool kits to 13 members of the Turk Kasha Muslim community. Each beneficiary received equipment worth ₹60,000 under the rehabilitation scheme for the community.
The equipment can help beneficiaries develop self employment opportunities. Therefore, the minister urged them to make full use of the support.
Minority women gain support for self employment
Azharuddin said Rangareddy has become one of the country’s prosperous districts. He linked the growth to the district’s wide and diverse industrial base.
Meanwhile, he said rapid industrial development has created more employment opportunities. He urged women to make better use of these opportunities.
The minister said women have strong professional values and can contribute effectively to economic growth. He added that more opportunities for women could also strengthen the state’s economy.
He asked beneficiaries to use government support such as sewing machines, generators and tool kits. He also urged women to move towards self employment.
Azharuddin said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has given special attention to minority women’s economic development. He also cited government support for minority welfare as evidence of that focus.
The minister said the Chief Minister quickly approved compensation for families affected by the Madina bus fire. He also said the government sanctioned ₹7 crore for Haj related arrangements.
During the programme, Azharuddin shared a personal memory about sewing machines. He recalled how his mother used to stitch clothes for him during his childhood.
He said modern sewing machines now offer easier operation and improved features. He encouraged women to use such tools to build independent livelihoods.
Referring to his cricket career, Azharuddin used a sporting analogy. He said he was a Test player and promised to score a century on funding demands raised by leaders.
He also stressed the need to make women and young people self reliant. He said people should learn skills that help them earn and support others.
Furthermore, he urged community leaders and elders to guide young people, especially in Hyderabad’s Old City. He called for greater focus on education, skills, employment and productive activities.
TGMFC chairman Mohammed Obedulla Kotwal thanked the Chief Minister and the minister. He said their support would strengthen government efforts for minority empowerment.
Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, Chief Whip and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy, Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud and MLC Boggarapu Dayanand attended the event.
Additional Collector Kiranmayi, district minority welfare officials and TGMFC officers also participated. (Maxim News)
