Hyderabad, Sept. 22: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed anguish over the fire at the Special Newborn Care Unit of RIMS Adilabad.
The Chief Minister ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed officials to submit a report on its cause.
At the time of his statement, two infants had died in the incident. Reddy described the deaths as deeply distressing and conveyed his condolences to the families.
The fire broke out late Monday night at the SNCU ward of RIMS Hospital. Reports said an air conditioner was suspected to have malfunctioned, causing the fire and thick smoke to spread through the unit.

Reddy directed officials to provide the best possible medical care to infants undergoing treatment.
He also asked authorities to continuously monitor their health conditions and take necessary measures for their treatment.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials to strengthen safety measures across hospitals in Telangana.
He said the measures should help prevent similar incidents from recurring.
Meanwhile, authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the RIMS fire. Police have also registered a case, while officials are examining the electrical and fire safety arrangements at the hospital.
