Hyderabad, Sept. 27 (Maxim News): Borabanda Police executed Preventive Detention (PD) Act orders against an alleged illegal liquor seller on September 26, 2026. Police identified the woman as Vemula Sarala, 45, a resident of Banjara Nagar in Borabanda.
According to the Borabanda Police, Sarala allegedly operated an illegal belt shop within the station limits for several years. Police said she faced multiple cases linked to the alleged unauthorised sale of liquor.
The police action followed orders issued by Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar, IPS. Officers executed the PD Act orders against Sarala under the Telangana Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act.
Police said they took the action after considering her alleged continued involvement in unlawful liquor sales. The authorities have not provided further details about the individual cases in the statement.
Borabanda Police Warn Illegal Belt Shops
The Borabanda Police have issued a strict warning to people allegedly operating belt shops or selling liquor without valid licences. Police said such activities violate provisions of the Telangana Excise Act.
According to the police, some people continue to sell liquor without authorisation within the Borabanda Police Station limits. Officials warned such operators to stop illegal liquor sales immediately.
Police said they will register cases under the Telangana Excise Act against people found selling liquor illegally. They also warned that the PD Act may apply to habitual offenders, subject to the applicable legal process.
The police further warned people who provide premises or shelter for illegal belt shops. Such persons may also face legal action, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Borabanda Police have appealed to residents to report information about illegal belt shops and unauthorised liquor sales. Residents can contact the police through Dial 112.
Police said informants’ identities will be kept confidential. The appeal forms part of the police department’s efforts to identify and prevent unauthorised liquor sales in the area.
The PD Act action against Sarala marks the latest enforcement measure announced by Borabanda Police against alleged habitual illegal liquor activity. Further action will depend on the investigation and applicable legal proceedings. (Maxim News)
