Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 2 (Maxim News): The Indian government is reportedly considering conferring the Ashoka Chakra on FlyDubai pilot Captain Smit Machchhar. There are chances that Indian pilot Smit Machchhar, who foiled the plot to shoot down a Dubai-bound plane, will be conferred with the Ashoka Chakra. It is known that those who display the greatest bravery are honored with the Ashoka Chakra. Machar, who saved the lives of about 180 people, is being praised all over the world. Indian Prime Minister Modi, US President Trump, and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu have also hailed the pilot as a hero.
The Gujarat government has already announced the Vishisht Gujarat Garima Award for the pilot, who has Gujarati roots. It appreciated his bravery. Special prayers were performed at the Somnath Temple. They also prayed at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple for Machar’s speedy recovery. If Machar is awarded the Ashoka Chakra, then he will be the second aviation person to win the award. Neeraj Bhanot, who served as the senior flight purser on Pan Am Flight 73 in 1987, was previously awarded the Ashoka Chakra. He sacrificed his life to save the passengers on the hijacked flight.
