Bengaluru, Oct. 7 (Maxim News) : A transformer box installed on a footpath outside Amazon’s office on Bagalur Main Road in Bengaluru exploded, injuring two pedestrians.
One of the injured pedestrians suffered severe burns to his hands after falling during the blast. Another person sustained minor injuries. A girl student walking nearby reportedly escaped unhurt.
The incident was captured on camera by a parent who was passing the area while dropping his children at school.
Transformer Blast Raises Footpath Safety Concerns
The incident has renewed concerns over the placement of electrical transformers on pedestrian pathways, particularly in busy areas used by schoolchildren and other pedestrians.
Questions have also been raised over whether transformers installed along footpaths are adequately secured and maintained. The incident has also brought attention to responsibility for electrical infrastructure located on public walkways.

A similar transformer explosion in Bengaluru in 2022 killed a father and his daughter. An inquiry into that incident found that BESCOM had received a complaint about the transformer before the blast. Officials subsequently faced allegations of negligence.
The latest incident has again raised concerns about electrical safety on pedestrian routes and the need for proper maintenance and safety measures around transformers.
Further details about the cause of the latest explosion and any official action are awaited.(Maxim News)
