Internet/Hyderabad, Oct 7 (Maxim News): India’s indigenously manufactured Tejas Mk1A fighter jets will get more power. State-of-the-art fighter jet engines have arrived in India from the US. These will be fitted to the Tejas fighter jets. Four F404-IN20 engines from US-based GE Aerospace have been delivered to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which is manufacturing the Tejas aircraft.
It seems that the company received these engines last September. So far, a total of 14 such engines have been received. That is, American engines are being installed in 14 Tejas Mk1A aircraft. According to the agreement signed with GE Aerospace, India will have to hand over a total of 99 fighter aircraft engines. The total value of these is Rs. 5,375 crore. GE Aerospace said that it has delivered 4 aircraft in the last month and is working to deliver the remaining aircraft. F404-IN20 engines have become recognized as the most effective and successful engines in fighter aircraft around the world.
This engine has many special components like higher flow fan and single crystal turbine blades as per the requirements of the Indian Air Force. These engines are well suited for the Tejas aircraft. India has been working with the US-based GE Aerospace for several decades. It has been cooperating with India in the production of fighter aircraft since the 1980s. These engines are especially crucial in the Tejas fighter aircraft. (Maxim News)
