CJP | New Delhi, Oct. 11: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called for a fresh protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Sunday, October 11, following mass detentions during its Saturday demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The party announced “Jantar Mantar 2.0” and renewed its demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). It also called for structural reforms in the Election Commission of India.
Delhi Police detained thousands of people attempting to reach the protest site. Opposition leaders, students, journalists, lawyers and activists were among those detained, according to reports.
CJP | Metro Services to Resume, Traffic Restrictions Expected
Northern Railway announced that train services would return to their normal schedules from midnight on October 11. Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory warning of diversions from 6 am Sunday around Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place, Mandi House, Patel Chowk and other central Delhi intersections.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had extended the closure of entry and exit gates at 45 stations until 10 pm on Saturday. The restrictions were imposed amid security arrangements for the protest.
The United Nations expressed concern over the detentions in CJP protest and urged Indian authorities to respect the right to peaceful assembly. It called for restraint by law enforcement agencies and meaningful dialogue with protesters.
India rejected the concerns expressed by the UN human rights office, describing them as misplaced and an unwarranted interference in the country’s internal affairs. India said peaceful assembly was constitutionally protected, subject to reasonable restrictions for public order.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were among the opposition leaders detained during the CJP protest. Vijayan and other CPI(M) leaders were later released after around eight hours, according to party MP John Brittas.
Delhi Police said six personnel were injured during the operation, with an officer alleging that stones were thrown at security personnel at two locations. The circumstances surrounding the injuries were being examined.
The INDIA bloc has also announced a protest march against Gyanesh Kumar on October 12. Congress general secretary K. C. Venugopal said senior leaders would submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice of India seeking intervention.
