Osmania Medical College | Hyderabad, Oct. 11: Junior doctors and medical students from Osmania Medical College will launch a strike at Osmania General Hospital on Monday over long pending training and infrastructure issues.
The Telangana Junior Doctors Association at Osmania Medical College (OMC JUDA) said interns, undergraduate students, postgraduate residents, senior residents and representatives from all departments would participate.
During the protest, the association will suspend elective outpatient department (OPD) services and elective operation theatre procedures. However, emergency services and essential patient care will continue without interruption.

OMC JUDA said repeated representations to authorities had failed to resolve several issues affecting departmental functioning and postgraduate training.

The association said the deficiencies were affecting residents’ learning opportunities, clinical training and working conditions. It called for urgent action with clear timelines to address the concerns.
The doctors stressed that the protest was not directed at any individual or department. Instead, they said, it aimed to protect residents’ dignity, improve the learning environment and ensure adequate facilities for safe patient care.
OMC JUDA also said medical education should provide proper training, infrastructure and departmental facilities, rather than focusing only on completing duties.
Meanwhile, junior doctors at other government medical colleges in Telangana, including Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, have yet to decide whether to join Monday’s protest.
