TGSRTC Union Election Results | Hyderabad, Oct. 11: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) employees’ union election trends have reportedly dealt a setback to the Congress-backed alliance. The October 9 polls have raised concerns for Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and TPCC president Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud.
The Congress had reportedly treated the elections as a matter of prestige. Its backed alliance included the Telangana Workers’ Union (TWU), Staff and Workers Federation (SWF) and Staff and Workers Union (SWU).
However, the CPI-affiliated Employees’ Union (EU), along with the Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) and National Mazdoor Union (NMU), secured significant support from RTC employees.
According to party sources, the leadership is reviewing the alliance’s performance. Reports point to organisational weaknesses, limited campaigning in some districts and allegations that certain Congress leaders supported rival unions.

Ministers, MLAs and party in-charges reportedly played a limited role in campaigning in several districts. The involvement of elected representatives and local leaders was allegedly lower than expected.
TGSRTC Union Election Figures Raise Concern
The alliance’s performance in Greater Hyderabad has reportedly caused particular concern. It won only three of the 26 units, according to the source report.
Consolidated polling figures show that the CPI-affiliated EU secured 18,250 votes at the state level in Class III and 13,677 votes at the regional level in Class VI.
The TWU received 13,670 votes at the state level in Class III. Its ally, the SWF, secured 13,907 votes at the regional level in Class VI.
The reported difference of 4,580 votes in favour of the EU over the TWU has become a key talking point after the polls.
The official TGSRTC union election results are scheduled for October 17. The postal ballot process is scheduled for October 14 and 15.
The source report estimates nearly 900 postal ballots. It says these votes are unlikely to significantly change the outcome, given the reported 4,580-vote margin.
