Hyderabad, Oct. 13: Telangana BJP President Ramchandra Rao on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his march to the Supreme Court, accusing him of drawing the judiciary into a political controversy.
Rao said Gandhi, as Leader of the Opposition, should respect the constitutional position of the Supreme Court. He stated that the court had already clarified its position on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and issued guidelines to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
According to Rao, the ECI was following the court’s directions. He also said the annexure to Form 6 was added after the Bihar SIR, following directions issued by the Supreme Court.
Ramchandra Rao Questions Congress Protest Strategy
Rao accused the Congress of misleading people and attempting to discredit the Election Commission and the Supreme Court. He described Gandhi’s march as an insult to the judiciary and the legal profession.

He argued that if the Congress had legal concerns, it could approach the court through advocates rather than staging a march. Rao also stressed the need to protect judicial independence and the sanctity of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police registered four FIRs in connection with the INDIA bloc’s protest march to the Supreme Court, according to police sources.
Two FIRs were registered at Tilak Marg police station, while Mandir Marg and Barakhamba police stations registered one each. The cases relate to the protest, police sources said.
