Riyadh Airport Threat: Houthis Warn As Flights Resume

Internet, Oct. 25: Yemen’s Houthi movement has renewed threats against Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, warning airlines and passengers against using the facility.

The warning came hours after the airport announced the resumption of operations at designated terminals on Sunday, October 25. The airport administration advised passengers to confirm their flight status with airlines before travelling.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree described the airport as a military target and warned that further operations could follow. He said airlines, airport employees and travellers should avoid the facility.

“The Saudi regime bears the consequences of any operation of the airport,” Saree said in a statement. He also warned that the airport would “never be safe.”

The warning follows earlier Houthi claims that the group had targeted Saudi airports, military facilities and energy infrastructure. Independent confirmation of each claimed target was not immediately available.

Passengers with confirmed bookings were advised to contact their airlines and verify their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam will remain suspended through November 7, 2026. Services connecting to Jeddah will remain suspended through October 31, according to the airlines’ advisory.

The airlines have offered eligible passengers complimentary rebooking options or full refunds upon cancellation. Passengers should check the latest advisories before making travel arrangements.

The Houthi warning follows claims by Saree that the group had targeted King Khalid International Airport and other facilities in Riyadh, Yanbu, Dammam and Rabigh.

He also claimed attacks on Aramco facilities, the Rabigh refinery, the East-West oil pipeline and other aviation and military sites. These statements represent claims by the Houthi movement and should not be treated as independently verified accounts of every attack.

The renewed warning highlights continuing security concerns surrounding Saudi Arabia’s aviation infrastructure and commercial air travel. The situation remains fluid, and passengers are advised to follow official airport and airline announcements.
