Inspections revealed several hygiene deficiencies, including damaged flooring, food waste on premises, unclean washing areas and drains clogged with food waste. Some walls were also stained with dust and food spills.

TG SAFE Flags Hygiene and Food Storage Violations

Officials found that some establishments had failed to maintain essential records, including pest control documents and health records of food handlers.

Food handlers at certain units were found working without hairnets and gloves. Grease had accumulated in exhaust systems and chimneys, while some food items were stored directly on the floor.

Inspectors also found food products kept alongside non-food items, raising concerns about proper storage and contamination risks.

TG SAFE issued improvement notices directing the 20 establishments to rectify the deficiencies. Officials will conduct follow-up inspections to verify compliance with food safety standards.

A separate establishment received a show-cause notice over the violations detected during the inspections. Further proceedings may follow, including action to impose penalties, depending on the findings.

The special drive covered sweet shops, bakeries and manufacturing units across several districts. These included Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Medak, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Jangaon, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Nirmal, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Yadadri, Mulugu, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
