Hyderabad, Oct 25 (Maxim News): A total of 1,581 applications for graduate voter enrolment have been rejected in Telangana’s two Graduates’ Constituencies during scrutiny. Officials flagged ineligible educational qualifications and suspected fake certificates.
The rejected applications relate to the Mahabubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad and Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda constituencies. The verification process is underway ahead of the Graduate MLC Elections scheduled for March 2027.
The two constituencies received a combined 5,23,758 applications as of Saturday. Officials approved 26,085 applications, while 4,96,112 remained pending verification, according to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
Under Election Commission of India rules, November 1, 2026, is the qualifying date for graduate voter enrolment. Applicants must have obtained a degree or equivalent qualification at least three years before that date.
Therefore, applicants must establish that their degree results were declared on or before October 31, 2023, to qualify for enrolment.
Graduate MLC Elections: Degree Eligibility and Fake Certificates Under Scrutiny
Some applications were rejected because applicants’ degree results were declared after the prescribed cut-off date. However, officials clarified that receiving a degree certificate after October 31, 2023, does not automatically make an applicant ineligible.
Applicants whose results were declared on or before the cut-off date can establish eligibility by submitting the required proof, officials said.
The Telangana CEO’s office has also identified applications containing allegedly fake educational certificates. Specialised software is being used to detect discrepancies and flag suspicious documents for verification.
Of the applications received in the Mahabubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad constituency, 4,695 were approved and 129 rejected. In the Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda constituency, 21,390 applications were approved and 1,452 rejected.
Eligible graduates can submit applications online through the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer’s website. Alternatively, they can submit Form-18 with the required documents to Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers or designated officers.
The deadline for submitting applications is November 6, 2026. Applicants should ensure that their educational qualifications meet the eligibility criteria and that they provide the necessary supporting documents.
