Hyderabad, Oct. 30: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the state government plans to auction 550 acres of land in Miyapur and use the proceeds to complete irrigation projects and fund other development works.
The announcement came a day after the Supreme Court ruled that the 550 acres belonged to the state government. Revanth Reddy said the land was valued at nearly Rs 50,000 crore and described the verdict as a landmark decision.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said the Cabinet sub-committee on resource mobilisation would examine the proposal. Its recommendations would be placed before the Cabinet for discussion before a final decision is taken.
“We intend to sell these valuable lands and utilise the proceeds for irrigation, education, healthcare and other development works,” he said.
Miyapur Land Auction Proposal to Fund Development Projects
Defending the proposal, Revanth Reddy said leaving the valuable land vacant could lead to encroachments. He said the government wanted to auction the property and use the revenue for public welfare programmes. He also appealed to the opposition BRS to cooperate with the initiative.

The Chief Minister said officials had been instructed to take immediate possession of the land and erect fencing to prevent encroachments. They were also asked to identify any constructions on the property and submit a report for further action.
Revanth Reddy accused the previous BRS government of facilitating encroachments on valuable government lands across Telangana.
He said the Congress government had taken steps to protect public properties after assuming office. According to him, the state’s legal team presented a strong case before the Supreme Court, leading to the favourable verdict.
“Since coming to power, our government has protected lands worth nearly Rs 1.50 lakh crore. This reflects our commitment to safeguarding public properties,” he said.
Revanth Reddy Raises Other Government Land Issues
The Chief Minister alleged that attempts had been made to facilitate encroachments on government lands in Kancha Gachibowli and Mamidipalli. He said the Congress government fought legal battles to protect the properties.
He also referred to alleged encroachments on forest land in Beeramguda and said the government had protected around 143 acres in Manchirevula.
Revanth Reddy further alleged that 400 acres of forest land in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district had been handed over as a “gift” to an MLA who later defected to the BRS.

Referring to land surveys in Shivar Venkatapuram and Erravelli, the Chief Minister said officials were surveying 388 acres under Survey No. 325.
Of the total area, 345 acres had been identified, while efforts were continuing to locate the remaining 45 acres, he said.
Revanth Reddy added that housing plots would be allotted to Telangana martyrs once the remaining land was identified. The government would also construct houses for them.
