New Delhi, Nov. 1: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led the INDIA bloc’s ‘Chalo Dilli’ march in Delhi on Sunday. The Opposition is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral roll irregularities.
The march began at the Minto Road-Connaught Place junction. It is proceeding towards Ramlila Maidan, where the INDIA bloc is scheduled to hold a public rally.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were among the Opposition leaders participating in the march.
Meanwhile, the BJP organised a separate march in West Delhi. The party said it was remembering victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The BJP march began in the Sikh-dominated Hari Nagar area. It is scheduled to conclude near Tilak Nagar Metro Station.
The BJP accused the Congress of holding its political rally on the anniversary of the 1984 violence. The Opposition has maintained that its demonstration concerns alleged electoral irregularities.
JP Nadda Attacks INDIA Bloc Rally
Union Minister and BJP leader JP Nadda criticised the INDIA bloc rally. He described it as a “foolish and designed drama”.

Nadda said the demonstration would become the final “nail in the coffin” of Congress’ political future.

He alleged that the protest was part of a planned conspiracy. According to him, its objective was to surrender democracy to anarchy and disorder.
Nadda also accused the Opposition of attempting to disrupt Delhi’s festive-season business. He alleged that the rally aimed to affect shopkeepers and traders.
He further claimed that the demonstration sought to defame the country.
Separately, BJP national president Nitin Nabin led a ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march in Rohtak, Haryana. The march was organised to counter the Opposition’s campaign.
