Shabbir Ali also cited the four per cent reservation for socially and educationally backward Muslims. He claimed nearly 22 lakh Muslims across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh benefited through education and employment opportunities.

Referring to the present government, Shabbir Ali praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s commitment to minority education. He said the government would strengthen infrastructure and address institutional challenges.

He urged institutional managements to consider Congress’s contribution while deciding their electoral support. He described the MLC elections as an opportunity to acknowledge policies supporting minority education.

Sachin Sawant Links Elections to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Chori’ Campaign

AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant said the Graduate MLC elections had gained national political significance. He linked the contests to Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against alleged electoral irregularities.

Sawant accused the BJP and RSS of attempting to manipulate elections. He said educated voters had a responsibility to protect constitutional values and democratic institutions.

He said Rahul Gandhi’s campaign sought to defend voting rights, particularly those of vulnerable communities. These included minorities, Dalits and backward classes.

Sawant argued that victories in both graduates’ constituencies would send a political message. He said such an outcome would strengthen the Congress campaign against alleged electoral manipulation.

Referring to recent graduates’ and teachers’ constituency elections in northern states, Sawant claimed the BJP had suffered setbacks. He said these results reflected dissatisfaction among sections of educated voters.

He appealed to institutional heads to contact their alumni personally. He urged them to explain the elections’ significance and encourage voting for Congress candidates.

During the meeting, institutional representatives also raised administrative difficulties affecting their colleges. They sought the Telangana Government’s intervention to resolve pending issues.

The representatives appreciated Shabbir Ali’s initiative and responded positively to the appeal. They said they would consider extending electoral cooperation and encouraging alumni to support Congress candidates.

Sama Rammohan Reddy offered to act as a bridge between educational institutions and the State Government. He promised to help address their concerns and facilitate solutions.

He also urged managements to encourage alumni to register as voters. He called on them to mobilise support for Congress candidates in the forthcoming Graduate MLC elections.
