Congress Wants Govt School At Every 3km Stretch

Hyderabad, Nov.25 (Maxim News): TPCC Spokesperson Harshavardhan Reddy on Monday said the Congress was opposing the decision of the State government to shut down the existing government schools and set up a one government school for a stretch of 5 km in the State.

Addressing mediapersons here, Harshavardhan Reddy said students from rural areas would be deprived of education if the government shuts 12,440 government schools. He also alleged that the State government was neglecting the education sector. He demanded that the State government see that huge investments were made on the development of the education sector.

The TPCC leader said the education sector in the rural areas has already been damaged. He alleged that the State government had not given job to even a single teacher after formation of the new State. He said some 36,000 teachers would lose employment if the schools were closed down.

Citing the Right To Education Act, Reddy said there should be a government school for every 3 km in the State otherwise six lakh students would suffer if the schools were set up at every 5 km stretch. He said the schools were being destroyed in the State by the government. (Maxim News)
