Cong MP Urges Centre To Probe Pharma City Land Acquisition

Hyderabad, Feb.5 (Maxim News): Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy called on union industries and commerce minister Piyush Goyal and submitted a representation to him. He urged the minister to order an inquiry in to the irregularities committed in the acquisition of land for the construction of a pharma city. He alleged that the rulers of the state were doing real estate business over thousands of acres of land in the name of the pharma city.

He alleged that land was being acquired from the poor farmers of the state for the pharma city in a forceful manner. He alleged that the land was being bought for just Rs. 8 lakh per acre from the farmers and the same being sold for Rs.1 crore per acre to the owners of the pharma companies. He made it clear that the pharma city project did not require 19,000 acres of land. He also made it clear that the city would lead to huge amount of pollution in the state and added that it would also destroy tanks and pollute ground water in the state. He urged the minister to hold a comprehensive inquiry in the irregularities committed besides urging him to stop the project. He told the minister that the project should be stopped as it was taken up in clear violation of the rules.(Maxim News)
