Komati Demands CM To Rescue Hailstorm-Hit Farmers

Hyderabad, March 21 (Maxim News): Congress MP K. Venkat Reddy said state had faced lot of damage due to hailstorm that hit state on Friday. He said the farmers were in tears as they lost the standing drop due to the hailstorm.

In a statement released here on Saturday, Venkat Reddy demanded that the Chief Minister immediately come to the rescue of the farmers of the State. He said the standing crops from Rajapet, Yadagirigutta, Bommalaramaram and Turkapally mandals is his Bhongir constituency suffered huge damage. He also said crops like paddy and lemon cultivated in 60,000 acres were damaged due to the hailstorm. He said the cattle had also lost fodder.

The MP demanded that the State government pay Rs 20,000 per acre compensation to the affected farmers. He also said KCR should also make a statement on the issue. He said the officials of the Agriculture department should visit all the affected areas in the next four days. He warned that the Congress party would organize agitation programs on the issue if there was no response from the government. (Maxim News)
