Temporary, mobile vegetable markets to be opened in Mahabubnagar

Minister for Excise and Prohibition V Srinivas Goud said vegetable markets would be set up in all municipalities of Mahabubnagar district so that there is no shortage of essential commodities like vegetables and meat in the district.

The Minister, as part of his supervision of the lockdown in Mahabubnagar town, visited the newly constructed integrated vegetable and meat market near Abdul Khader Dargah, the area where another market is going to be constructed near DIET College and also the bus stand which would be temporarily be used to sell vegetables.

These three markets would start selling vegetables to people from Thursday, he said, and issued instructions to marketing officials in this regard.

He also asked officials to ensure social distancing when people come to purchase the essential commodities including vegetables and to prevent people coming in groups at any cost.

He also instructed officials to set up similar temporary markets in Jadcharla, Devarkadra and Bhootpur municipalities. In addition to these markets, he said 10 mobile vegetable markets would be run in all the streets, so that people don’t have to come out to purchase vegetables.

Stressing that the State government was taking all measures to make essential commodities available to the people, he cautioned vendors and shopkeepers not to inflate the prices of essential commodities, as the PD Act would be invoked against those indulging in blackmarketing of essential commodities.

He also warned people not to venture out of their homes, as strict action would be initiated against those found loitering on the roads for no reason.
