Centre To Try Privatising Agri. Sector By Passing Agriculture Bills: Keshava Rao
Hyderabad, Sept.19 (Maxim News): TRS MP K Keshava Rao today criticised the centre for trying to privatise agriculture sector by passing agriculture bill against farmers. We will protest in Rajya Sabha on the same to mount pressure on the Centre the TRS MPs said.
Talking to press persons near Parliament in Delhi, they hit out at the BJP government for the bill that will cause a huge loss to farmers. Despite its ally Akali Dal quitting the Cabinet in protest against farmers bill, the Modi government passed it, they alleged. They opposed the bill as it hampers the farmers interests.
The Centre has issued orders to import about 50 lakh tons of maize instead of procuring from the states, they objected.
Keshava Rao have spammed the Modi government for resorting to a dangerous law being opened by many parties and farmers. Telangana has procured 9 lakh tons of maize and other crops by offering minimum support prices they claimed.
The bill causes loss to maize producing states of Telangana, UP, Bihar and others. The import tax was reduced to 35 percent from 50 percent they said. This step by the centre supports the private operators at the cost of local farmers, they expressed concern.
The TRS regime is farmers friendly as it offers rythu bandhu money, rythu bhima, assistance and 24 hr free power. This can be replicated by other states, the MPs said. The TRS MPs said that they will coordinate with like minded parties to protest draconian far law of the centre. (Maxim News)
