Farm Law: Joe Biden’s administration backs India
Hyderabad, February 4, Farm: The US State Department has released a statement saying the Joe Biden’s administration is backing the farm reforms in India as it encourages more private investments, and also added that peaceful protests were the hallmark of democracy and that the issues should be resolved through dialogue.

The statement from the US government has assumed importance in the wake of protest against new farm laws has gained attention at the global level with celebrities like Rihanna and Greta Thunberg extending support to farmers’ stir.

Joe Biden Administration:
The statement issued by the US State Dept indicated that the new Biden Administration is supportive of the Indian government’s move to reform the agricultural sector that attracts private investment and greater market access to farmers.
Rejecting violence in the name of protests carried out by the ‘farmers’, the Biden administration also said that recognised peaceful protests as a hallmark of a thriving democracy and praised Modi government’s progressive farm sector reforms.
Even though observers in India have welcomed Joe Biden administration’s support for the farm laws, they have also expressed caution against US government’s intervention in country’s internal affairs.
Meanwhile, farmer unions have decided to block national and state highways across the country on February 6.
