Covid-19 Surge: 280 new infections reported in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec. 30: The trend of rise in daily new Covid-19 infections has continued in Telangana with the health department reporting 280 new infections on Thursday compared to 235 positive cases that were reported on Wednesday. In areas under GHMC, authorities reported 167 Covid positive cases on Thursday while on Wednesday 121 positive infections were reported.

Apart from 280 Covid infections, there was one fatality on Thursday, taking the cumulative number of deaths to 4025. The total number of positive cases so far in Telangana has reached 6, 81, 587 while the number of active cases as on Thursday was 3,563.

The authorities on Thursday conducted 37, 926 Covid tests of which results of 5, 715 samples were awaited. A total of 206 individuals have recovered with a recovery rate of 98.88 per cent on Thursday.

So far, a total of 2, 96, 71, 933 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 6, 81, 587 have tested positive and 6, 73, 999 persons have recovered.

The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included two from Adilabad, four from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 167 from areas under GHMC, one each from Jangaon and Kamareddy, three from Karimnagar, five from Khammam, four from Mahabubnagar, six from Mahabubabad, one each from Mancherial and Medak, 24 from Medchal-Malkajgiri, two each from Nalgonda and Nizamabad, three from Peddapalli, 29 from Rangareddy, six from Sangareddy, four each from Siddipet and Suryapet, two from Warangal Rural, four from Hanumakonda and five from Yadadri Bhongir.
