Banks to remain close for 12 days in February

Hyderabad, Jan 31: As per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list, all private and public banks across India will be closed for 12 days in February. However, banking activities and ATMs will continue to function.

The RBI characterises holidays based on Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Banks’ Closing of Accounts and Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday categories. This month, all holidays fall under the Holiday Negotiable Instruments Act.

Here’s the list of holidays of banks in February 2022:

February 2: All banks in Gangtok will remain closed because of the Sonam Lhochhar festival.

February 5: On this day, banks in Bhubaneswar, Agartala, and Kolkata will be closed due to Shree Panchami/Saraswati Puja/Basant Panchami.

February 6: All banks will be shut as the day is a Sunday.

February 12: All banks will be shut as it is the second Saturday of the month.

February 13: All lenders will be closed on account of the day being a Sunday.

February 15: Banks in Kanpur, Lucknow, and Imphal will remain closed on account of the birth anniversary of Mohammad Hazrat Ali/Louis-Nagai-Ni.

February 16: On account of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, banks in Chandigarh will remain shut.

February 18: Banks will remain closed in Kolkata because of Doljatra celebrations.

February 19: All lenders in Mumbai, Nagpur, and Belapur will be shut on account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

February 20: On account of the day being a Sunday, all lenders will remain shut.

February 26: As it is the fourth Saturday of the month, all lenders will be closed.

February 27: On account of the day being a Sunday, all banks will remain closed.

Meanwhile, banks across India had a total of 16 holidays in January 2022.
